Meta’s newest proposed product might look like a simple wristwatch, but it’s a lot more powerful than that. The result of a project led by Vice President of Research Thomas Reardon '08GS, '13GSAS, '16GSAS, the wristwatch is designed to let users control their devices through hand gestures. It does this by reading electrical signals from your brain, which is to say that you might not even have to move: ”you just have to intend to move,” confirmed Reardon.
The wristband was introduced to the world through a study published in the journal Nature, but remains a prototype thus-far: Meta hopes to slowly launch the technology by folding it into new products in the coming years.
