Ten GS Students Awarded Gilman Scholarships

May 06, 2014

Ten GS students—out of an overall group of 12 students from Columbia University—were recently selected to receive summer 2014 scholarships from the Gilman International Scholarship Program, which "aims to encourage students interested in non-traditional study abroad destinations by providing financial support." These students were chosen from a pool of more than 3,000 applicants nationwide, and awards ranged from $3,000 to $5,000.

"I am extremely pleased that such a high percentage of GS students were represented among the recipients of this competitive award. The additional funding provided by the Gilman International Scholarship Program will allow these deserving students to attend various summer study abroad programs, which may not have been possible otherwise," Senior Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Study Abroad Vanessa Karahalios said.
