Three GS alumni were recently selected for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program, which supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based master's and doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions.

Awn Lifetime Service Award at the 9th Annual Columbia University Military Ball on Friday, March 29. The award, named in memory of the late Dean Emeritus of the School, honors a lifetime of outstanding support for military veterans and service members.

Jesse Chase-Lubitz '18 has been chosen by the Henry Luce Scholarship Foundation to join the 2019-2020 class of Luce Scholars. Aimed at the enhancement of the understanding of Asia among potential leaders in American society, the Program places students in various host countries within Asia for an immersive living and working experience.

On Saturday, February 9, around 500 prospective medical students and 32 volunteers gathered in Lerner Hall for the 2019 Medical School Fair.

The Spring 2019 entering class comprises a truly diverse body, boasting 37 U.S. military veterans, 15 veterans from foreign militaries, and international students representing 24 countries.

Today, more than 230 incoming GS undergraduate and Postbac Premed students, along with GS staff and Orientation Leaders, convened in Roone Arledge Auditorium in Lerner Hall to usher in the beginning of the spring semester and begin the weeklong New Student Orientation Program

Before even attending medical school, Postbac Premed Program student Ivan Dominguez had become a part of medical history by being a part of the team that filmed the first face transplant surgery ever performed at NYU Langone Health. However, the path he followed to get to this point began with a passion for music, which he credits with leading him to his current passion: medicine.

As a GS alumna, Rosen-Metsch understands where the School is headed and what it needs from its next Dean—from continuing to expand its joint programs and strengthening alumni relations, to addressing the housing and financial needs of current and future students.

More than 500 alumni of the School of General Studies returned to campus from June 1 to 4 to participate in the 2017 All-Year Reunion that celebrated the School’s 70th anniversary and honored outgoing dean Peter J. Awn, who, after 20 years of leadership, is stepping down.
