International Student Hardship Fund

To support international students facing unexpected financial hardships, Columbia University has established two funding resources — the Summer Fund and the Humanitarian Fund.

These grants are need-based and limited in availability. Awards typically range from $1,000–$2,500, with higher amounts possible in extreme circumstances. Funding priority is determined by:

  • Urgency of the situation

  • Level of hardship

  • Overall financial circumstances
