GS Celebrates Veterans Day

The day’s celebration began at Gracie Mansion with the Mayor’s Breakfast and continued downtown with the opening ceremony of the parade at the Eternal Light Memorial in Madison Square Park where School of General Studies Dean Peter J. Awn recognized veterans with a few words on behalf of the Columbia University community.

Following the opening ceremony, Columbia’s more than 20 parade participants lined-up to embark on the thirty-block cruise up Fifth Avenue. At the close of the parade, veterans were invited to the Thank You for Serving" concert held at the State Armory, where they were provided with information about Columbia University School of General Studies and its participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
