GS Alumni Honored at 2026 Columbia University Commencement Ceremony

Michael Novak ‘09GS and Thomas Reardon ’08GS, ’13GSAS, ’16GSAS were recognized for their continued contributions to GS and the Columbia communities.

On Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the 272nd Columbia University Commencement Ceremony, two Columbia GS alumni were recognized for their outstanding commitments to the Columbia community.

Michael Novak ‘09GS received the 2026 University Medal for Excellence, which is awarded to an alumnus or alumna under 45 years of age whose record in scholarship, public service, and/or professional life is outstanding.

Thomas Reardon ’08GS, ’13GSAS, ’16GSAS was recognized with an Alumni Medal, the highest honor given by the Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) and bestowed in recognition of 10 or more years of distinguished service to the University and commitment to building Columbia’s community.

Their recognition this year reflects the lasting impact GS alumni continue to have across Columbia and beyond. We congratulate them both on these well-deserved honors and thank them for their continued service to the University community!
