Three GS alumni are premiering their films at the Sundance International Film Festival in Park City and Salt Lake City, Utah this month. Sundance is the largest independent film festival in the United States, with a viewership of a few hundred thousand each year. Elegance Bratton ‘14GS, Isaak Popkin '24GS, and Arielle Friedman '24GS are among the few selected whose films will be presented at the renowned festival.

Bratton’s featured film entitled Move Ya Body: The Birth of House, is a documentary following a group of southside Chicago friends as they turn a new sound into a global movement. The story revolves around the Disco Demolition of 1979, referred to as one of the darkest days in American music history. Popkin and Friedman worked as producers on a new short film by Danielle Friedman ‘24BC Unholy, which will be featured in the Sundance shorts program. In Unholy, Noa attends her family’s Passover Seder for the first time since being put on a feeding tube for a gastrointestinal disorder. The two films will be eligible for jury and audience awards in the Documentary and Shorts categories.
