From Boston to San Francisco, GS has hit the road to connect with alumni, students, and families from across the country.

Throughout the year, Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch, alongside members of the GS Development and Alumni Relations team, travels across the U.S. to connect and engage with GS alumni, students, and their families.

This past spring, Michael Novak ‘09, Artistic Director of the Paul Taylor Dance Company, hosted an exclusive reception for Columbia guests in Boston prior to the opening night performance of the Company’s latest show. Soon after, the GS team traveled to Miami and Palm Beach to meet with recent graduates, current students, and alumni. Raul de la Espriella ‘20GS reflected with enthusiasm what it was like to have the GS community together outside of New York: “It’s like you brought campus to us!”

In August, alumna and Columbia University Trustee Kikka Hanazawa ‘00GS and her family welcomed nearly 50 guests to their home in California to reminisce with fellow alumni, connect with current students, and share the impacts of her time at Columbia with the group.

“It’s a privilege to be able to travel outside of Manhattan to meet our alumni where they are,” said Aviva Zablocki, Senior Director of Alumni Relations. “We’ve even met students who plan their vacations based on where GS events are happening! It’s amazing to feel that sense of community far from campus.”

In November, GS and the Columbia Alumni Association (CAA) of Boston will host a special reception with Dean Rosen-Metsch ‘90GS followed by a lecture featuring her work as a medical sociologist and an internationally recognized scholar, titled "Overdose Epidemic in the U.S.: Applying a Social Science Lens to a Public Health Crisis."
