Students applying for institutional financial aid for the 2020-2021 academic year are advised to submit all of the required forms as soon as possible, and no later than Friday, May 1.

April 29, 2020

The School of General Studies Scholarship Application deadline for the 2020-2021 academic year is Friday, May 1, 2020.

To review if you have forms still awaiting submission, please login to the Columbia University Online Financial Aid System https://studentviewer.finaid.columbia.edu and navigate to the “Menu,” then “Documents & Messages.” If the GS Scholarship is not listed as received, you must submit it by May 1.  (Please note: the GS Scholarship Application will not show as missing if it has not been submitted, but will appear as a received document once it has been submitted.)

If you intend to enroll for the summer semester, it is important that you indicate the number of credits you anticipate to enroll for in the summer using the Planned Enrollment Form.

It is important to note that GS Students will not be penalized in the awarding process by the University decision to move to pass/fail grading for the spring semester. The awarding process for GS institutional aid is based on a number of factors, including a students’ cumulative GPA, enrollment, and demonstrated need. The Office of Educational Financing will not grant appeals to merit awards based on spring performance.

If you have submitted documents within the last day, they may not yet be reflected in the system as received.

As a reminder, the following documentation must be completed:

For All Students

For US Citizens and Permanent Residents

For International Students (students who are not US citizens or permanent residents)
