We are seeking students to work as Editorial Assistants, Digital Content Assistants, and Social Media Ambassadors. These roles offer unique opportunities to create engaging, audience-driven content that connects GS students, alumni, and the broader Columbia community across web and social platforms.
The Columbia GS Office of Communications is seeking students to serve as editorial assistants, crafting high-quality written content for GS’ websites and social media channels. In this role, you’ll create compelling stories that inform, educate, and engage prospective and current students while connecting alumni, faculty, staff, and media to the GS experience.
This role will:
- Help create innovative, engaging written content for GS’ various audiences, including but not limited to long and short-form written news articles, student and alumni profiles, and event recaps.
- Support content initiatives that highlight GS students and alumni, campus resources, academic opportunities and research, and the broader GS experience; and help craft stories about the school and connect audiences to key programs and services.
- Assist with analyzing social and web analytics and making data-driven decisions about content and campaigns.
- Brainstorm new editorial ideas with the Communications team to further engage our audiences across social channels.
The ideal candidate will have very strong writing, editing, and interviewing skills, and the ability to craft compelling stories that speak to multiple audiences.
Time Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
Compensation: $18.25 per hour (work-study or casual)
Location: Hybrid (a mix of in-office and remote)
Start Date: May 2026, with summer availability and continuing through the 2026-2027 academic year

The Columbia GS Office of Communications is seeking students to work as digital content assistants, helping to create high quality video-based content for GS' social media channels with a specific focus on YouTube and Instagram. This position will help storyboard and film content that engages prospective and current GS students, as well as alumni, faculty, staff, and media.
This role will:
- Help create inspiring video content that speaks to, informs, educates, and entertains prospective and current GS students, as well as alumni, faculty, staff, and media. This will primarily include, but is not limited to, long and short-form content for YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and more.
- Support content initiatives that highlight GS students and alumni, campus resources, academic opportunities and research, and the broader GS experience; and help craft stories about the school and connect audiences to key programs and services.

The Columbia GS Office of Communications is seeking students to work as social media ambassadors, helping create high-quality, creative content for GS's social media channels, including the Postbac Premed Program and International Dual Degree Programs, as well as representing the School on ZeeMee, the peer-to-peer engagement app for prospective and newly admitted students.
The GS social media ambassadors will work with the GS Communications team to create and share student-focused video content on our social channels to help drive engagement among the GS community, and to highlight the GS and Columbia experience for the education and entertainment of current, former, and prospective students.
Ambassadors will focus on creating fun, engaging, short-form content specifically for the GS Instagram and TikTok, in addition to posting regularly on ZeeMee, a social media chat app for prospective and incoming students.
Responsibilities Include:
- Helping create innovative, engaging short-form content for TikTok and Instagram that speaks to multiple GS audiences and the larger Columbia community, including but not limited to topics that highlight the GS student experience, coverage of GS-specific events, Columbia-wide opportunities, and more.
- Brainstorming new social ideas with the GS Communications team to further engage our audiences across social channels
- Acting as a student representative on ZeeMee and actively engaging with the GS community by getting students excited to come to campus, posting varied GS-specific content, redirecting questions, and welcoming new students
This is a hybrid role and ambassadors will often work independently and heavily engage with the GS student community. Ambassadors will have opportunities to collaborate with fellow team members on various assignments and at regular in-person meetings. The content created will be a mix of assigned content and ideas developed during brainstorm sessions.
The ideal candidate will be interested in working the full school year, have existing digital media skills, including experience with short-form video, photography, writing, design, creating TikToks and Reels, etc. Experience with on-camera presence is a plus.
