Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony

The Phi Beta Kappa Induction Ceremony is a special ceremony where students who have been nominated to and accepted their membership with The Phi Beta Kappa Society are inducted to the the General Studies division of the New York Delta chapter.  Founded in 1776, The Phi Beta Kappa Society is the oldest undergraduate honor society in the United States. The Society recognizes excellence in the liberal arts and sciences, electing members who demonstrate “intellectual integrity, tolerance for other views, and a broad range of academic interests.” Election to Phi Beta Kappa is one of Columbia University’s highest honors.

This year we invite inductees, loved ones, and faculty to a virtual ceremony to celebrate this unique achievement of our students. The Phi Beta Kappa Virtual Induction Ceremony includes remarks by President Patricia G. Lindemann, Lecturer in Discipline and Director of Undergraduate Studies with the Department of Psychology, Vice President Lisa Rosen-Metsch, Dean of the School of General Studies, and Secretary Victoria Rosner, Dean of Academic Affairs of the School of General Studies.
