On May 14, more than 500 graduating seniors were celebrated at the 2018 GS Class Day ceremony, which featured a keynote speech by Olympian Sasha Cohen '16GS. The ceremony was held on the South Lawn on Columbia's Morningside Campus, and graduates and guests were welcomed by Dean Lisa Rosen-Metsch '90.

In the Upstate New York farmhouse where he grew up, Michael Wedd was forbidden from watching TV, surfing the internet, listening to most radio stations, or going to school. He taught his siblings and himself subjects like chemistry and biology with textbooks he found around the house, and learned to play piano by listening to a family radio that was always tuned to a classical music station.

On February 20, faculty, staff, friends, and family gathered to celebrate the induction of 94 students into the GS Honor Society at its spring 2018 Induction Ceremony in Low Memorial Library. The GS Honor Society, created in 1997 to celebrate the academic achievement of GS scholars, inducts students who have earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.8 in more than 30 points of academic coursework at Columbia University.
