Hiring: Marketing and Communications Assistant

The Columbia School of General Studies (GS) is seeking a student to work as a Marketing and Communications Assistant, providing general support to the School's communications to prospective and current GS students, as well as alumni—including those in the Postbac Premed Program and the School’s International Dual Degree Programs.

The Assistant will help promote news, events, and other relevant information across various platforms, including the GS website, weekly student newsletters, and recruitment emails.. This position offers the potential to acquire widely-applicable skills, and is an excellent professional opportunity for students interested in a career in marketing and/or communications or related fields.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Posting events and opportunities of interest to students through various channels
  • Assisting in preparation of weekly Undergraduate and Postbac Premed student newsletters via Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Assisting in preparation of application deadline and event promotion emails to prospective students for Undergraduate, Postbac Premed, and Dual Degree Programs via Slate
  • Creating, formatting, and publishing website content
  •  
  • Organizing and collecting data to help inform recruitment strategies

 

Position Requirements:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a small-team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Experience with email marketing a plus
  • Knowledge of Drupal, Canva,, Slate and/or Salesforce Marketing Cloud a plus

     

Time Commitment:
Part-time, hybrid (10-15 hours per week) during the Fall and Spring terms. The GS Communications team will work with the successful applicant on determining hours that work with their course schedule.

Depending on need, there may be an opportunity to extend through the Summer term with the possibility to work up to 25 hours per week. Please note, this is not a guarantee.

Compensation:
$18.25 per hour (work-study eligible, but not required)
