Alumna Wins Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Award

July 23, 2012

Earlier this month, Molly Ola Pinney ’09 was honored at the Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Awards for her work as founder and CEO of the Global Autism Project. The award is given annually to City Year alumni who have shown a continued commitment to philanthropic work after completing the program.

Pinney completed her service to City Year in 2001, two years before moving to Ghana as an applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapist for a child whose family was moving to the country. Her encounters with other autistic children in Ghana inspired her to launch the Global Autism Project, which serves local autism centers in under-resourced areas worldwide.

The Global Autism Project is, among other projects, currently initiating a SkillCorps Program in which professionals in special education, ABA therapy and business work with the organization’s international partners in Peru, India, and Kenya.
