Please join Enrique Olivo '18GS and Brian Young '18SOA for an engaging discussion about the differences between traditional publishing and self-publishing, based on their journeys toward becoming published authors.
Enrique recently self-published a book with the help of Kickstarter and Brian's first middle school book was published earlier this year through a traditional publisher. Both authors started their respective manuscripts while students at Columbia. They'll share what inspired them to write, the challenges they faced while on the traditional publishing route, the turning point that resulted in one (Brian) landing an agent and book deal and the other (Enrique) taking the self-publishing option, and what their life is like now that they're published. The discussion will be followed by Q&A.
