Telling Your Story as a First-Gen and/or Low Income Alumni Panel

October 26, 2021
4:00 PM - 5:15 PM
America/New_York
Online

As a first generation and/or low income college student you have a lot of skills and life experiences that will help you to succeed in any workplace. Ever wonder how to tell your story to an employer in a way that highlights your strengths? The Center for Career Education, First-in-Family Programs, Academic Success Program, CC, SEAS, and GS Alumni Relations, and Multicultural Affairs (FLI @ Columbia) invite you to join us for an alumni panel focused on articulating your story.

In this program, you will: 1. Hear from alumni about the ways in which their identity played a role in successfully navigating Columbia and the job search. 2. Learn how your experiences inside and outside the classroom can give you skills that all employers seek. 3. Network with alumni and your peers.

Whether this is your very first career center event and you are just starting to think about career, or your tenth, all are welcome. Come begin to connect with the career center and build community at Columbia.

Undergraduate students from the following schools are welcome:

  • Columbia College
  • School of Engineering and Applied Science
  • School of General Studies

This session will include a panel with alumni and breakout rooms where you can learn more from alumni in small groups. You are welcome to come and turn your camera on or off if you just want to listen. The dress code is casual.
