Karlee Rodrigues '18GS, '20SOA is a cinema studies graduate from Columbia, and currently works in business affairs supporting acquisitions and distribution at international film distributor Kino Lorber. She also loves making films with her sister. Their small but mighty production company is called CINEMANAS, blending the words “cinema” and “manas” (Portuguese for sisterhood), where they make films on identity and community. Recently, their company was brought on to support filming for Google. Growing up in an immigrant family, she’s come to see the importance of cultural representation in film and as a lover of arthouse, understands that independent stories have the power to transform our society at large. While at GS, Karlee was heavily involved in student government both as an undergraduate and graduate student. At Columbia, she served on the Students of Arts and Sciences Consortium to the Executive Committee of the Faculty of Awards and Sciences, Interschool Governing Board, Student Health Advisory Committee, and the GSSC Board, supporting the Food Pantry at Columbia.
