Students are invited to attend this event to learn more from Dr. Yelena Akelina at CUIMC who is seeking observers for an observership program in microsurgery. The microsurgery lab teaches basic microvascular procedures to surgeons in different specialties, emphasizing vascular anastomoses, interpositional vein grafts, and nerve repairs on rat models. ICM/IACUC will provide regulatory and skills training before the beginning of the observership. Volunteers will be able to observe the microsurgery courses during this 90-day program, engage in some relevant clinical research projects, and interact with surgeons from in diverse surgical specialties and from around the world.
