Columbia University is pleased to welcome The Honorable Carlos Del Toro, Secretary of the Navy, for an address and discussion. 

A Maritime Nation: American Naval Primacy to Meet the Challenges of the 21st Century

In honor of four of Columbia’s greatest students – Alexander Hamilton, Alfred Thayer Mahan, Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano Roosevelt – iconic Americans who rallied the nation around the need for a great Navy and made it the world’s preeminent force it is today, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro is humbled to return to his hometown to address the students, faculty, and public on how the United States Navy and Marine Corps is charting a course to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow. 

The address will be followed by a discussion with Jason K. Dempsey, Executive Director of the Center for Veteran Transition and Integration, and questions from the audience.
