Students are invited to attend this event to learn more from Dr. Yelena Akelina at CUIMC who is seeking observers for the summer and potentially research interns for a year in a microsurgery training and research lab. The lab teaches basic microvascular procedures to surgeons in different specialties, emphasizing vascular anastomoses, interpositional vein grafts, and nerve repairs on rat models. ICM/IACUC will provide regulatory and skills training before the beginning of the observership. Volunteers will be able to observe the Microsurgery courses during this 90-day program, engage in some relevant clinical research projects, and interact with surgeons from in diverse surgical specialties and from around the world.
