Position Description:
The Department of Pediatrics is seeking Volunteer Research Assistants to support ongoing research projects aimed at improving communication between physicians and families of hospitalized children. These projects emphasize health literacy and equitable communication for families who speak languages other than English. This position is ideal for pre-health students interested in pediatrics, health equity, and clinical research experience.
Responsibilities include:

Enrolling study participants and administering surveys or interviews

Observing physician-parent communication during family-centered rounds

Preparing, scoring, and organizing research materials

Performing data entry, transcription, and literature reviews

Coding qualitative data
Position Requirements:
-
Fluent in English; excellent communication and organizational skills

Must be 18 years or older

Strong attention to detail

Fluency in Spanish and/or prior research experience preferred

Must comply with NYU and Bellevue volunteer clearance requirements, including influenza vaccination

Masks required at certain clinical sites
Time Commitment:
-
Minimum 8 hours per week (1 full-day shift or two 4-hour shifts)

Shifts available Monday–Friday, between 9 AM and 5 PM (no evenings/weekends)
-
12-month commitment required
