Position Description
A volunteer intern is needed in Dr. Pamela Scorza's research lab in the Departments of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Psychiatry at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. The intern will primarily support a pilot project in Argentina which aims to develop and test an intervention for trauma-informed obstetric care in a public maternity hospital. There will also be the opportunity to support the creation of a manuscript. If the intern is able to acquire their own funding, they may have the opportunity to travel to Buenos Aires in late March or April 2023 to support the beginning of the pilot study.

The intern would also be required to work cooperatively with other volunteers/interns/research assistants in Dr. Scorza’s lab. Weekly team meetings via Zoom are required. This is primarily a remote opportunity, though there may be several occasions when it would be helpful to meet at the CUIMC campus at 168th Street.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating questionnaires in the REDCap electronic data collection system
  • Supporting the IRB approval process
  • Being a liaison with the study team in Argentina
  • Overseeing logistics and bringing any issues to the attention of Dr. Scorza

Position Requirements

  • Fluent in Spanish (comfortable working/speaking/writing/editing in Spanish)
  • Willing to commit to at least 1 year (January 2023 - January 2024)
  • Familiarity with REDCap electronic data collection system is a plus

Time Commitment
Part-time (8-10 hours per week) with a minimum commitment of one year (January 2023 - January 2024)
