Project STAY
Position Description
Project STAY (Services to Assist Youth), which provides free, compassionate, comprehensive, and inclusive health care services to New York’s youth, is seeking volunteer health educators. Project STAY educators are trained to conduct STI and HIV testing at nontraditional venues in the community as well as brief risk assessments and referrals to care. They have the opportunity to shadow at a young adult clinic and receive support for medical school applications. The program is affiliated with the Columbia Mailman School of Public Health and New York Presbyterian.
Responsibilities include:
Position Requirements
- Keen interest in working with young people, in particular LGBTQ youth
- Willingness to travel about NYC for events
- Some sexual health education a plus

Spanish speaking a plus
Time Commitment
Part-time, 10 hours per week, with a one-year commitment. Hours are flexible and in accordance with when events are scheduled.
Compensation
Volunteer. Depending on length of time and hours given to the program, a volunteer may be able to get compensation after 6 months.
