Organization: Project STAY (Services to Assist Youth) – Columbia University Medical Center
Position Description:
Project STAY is seeking passionate and community-driven students to join its team as Health Educators. This volunteer role offers hands-on experience in HIV testing, sexual health education, and working with at-risk youth populations across New York City. Volunteers will receive HIV testing certification and may be eligible for paid casual employment with Columbia University after completing a volunteer term.
Responsibilities include:

Providing sexual health education and HIV testing at various community locations

Engaging with at-risk populations including LGBTQ+ youth and young adults

Supporting linkages to NewYork-Presbyterian sexual health programs

Traveling to community agencies and nightlife venues to provide outreach services

Collaborating with fellow postbacs and MPH students as part of a team-based approach
Position Requirements:

Interest in sexual health, advocacy, and working with underserved populations

Comfort with travel to diverse locations across NYC

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Bilingual fluency a plus

Prior experience in health education or sexual health is a plus
Time Commitment:

5–10 hours per week (with flexibility to contribute more)

Minimum one-year commitment expected
Compensation:
Volunteer position initially, with potential for paid casual employment through Columbia University
