Position Description
The Emergency Department of Bellevue Hospital Center is seeking a research associate for their Screening, Brief Intervention, Referral to Treatment, Opioid Education, and Naloxone Distribution (SBIRT-OEND) study at Bellevue for Fall 2021–Spring 2022.

Responsibilities include:

  • Screening and interacting with patients using an approved script to identify those at risk
  • Assisting emergency department staff with patient care
  • Identifying risky substance use among patients and provide them with appropriate intervention
  • Assisting with all other responsibilities assigned

Position Requirements

  • Strong interest in healthcare (aspiring doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists, and clinical social workers) as well as students who are uncertain about pursuing a career in healthcare
  • At least one year of undergraduate studies a plus
  • Research experience a plus

Time Commitment
Part-time. SBIRT-OEND research associates are expected to dedicate two four-hour-shifts per week (research associates can dedicate more shifts, if desired and available).
