Position Title

Virtual Research Assessment Assistant

Position Description

The Columbia School of Social Work is seeking a research assistant to support a nationwide, multi-generational study on family structure and well-being. This role involves conducting virtual (Zoom) psychological assessments with children ages 5–9.

This is a great opportunity for individuals interested in psychology, child development, or research who enjoy working with children and families in a professional, remote setting.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Completing training on standardized psychological assessments
  2. Scheduling virtual assessments with mothers/guardians
  3. Conducting one-hour Zoom interviews with children
  4. Completing post-assessment documentation and procedures

Position Requirements

  1. Friendly, professional, and courteous demeanor
  2. Strong attention to detail
  3. Familiarity with the scientific method
  4. Ability to work independently
  5. Experience working with children
  6. Comfort engaging with families and children on Zoom
  7. Availability for weekday training sessions

Time Commitment

  1. Up to 5 hours per week
  2. Some availability required 3:30–6:30 PM on weekdays and/or weekends (when children are out of school)

Compensation

$23/hour
