Position Description:
The Department of Neurology at CUIMC is hiring a part-time Research Assistant to support an NIH-funded R21 study titled Patient Activation, Cognition, and LVAD. Under the direction of Principal Investigator Dr. Marykay Pavol, the RA will assist with participant enrollment and follow-up assessments of patients with Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs) and their caregivers. The study follows participants at enrollment and at 3-month intervals over one year (five encounters per participant).
Responsibilities include:

Assisting with participant recruitment, enrollment, and scheduling

Conducting follow-up assessments in-person and/or virtually

Maintaining communication with participants and study team

Supporting data entry and tracking using appropriate software tools
Position Requirements:

Proficiency in English
-
Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work in-person at the CUIMC Manhattan campus (168th Street)

Ability to meet assigned responsibilities and timelines

Effective communication via phone, email, and in person
Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience with research projects

Familiarity with data systems (e.g., REDCap, SAS)
Time Commitment:

Part-time, approximately 12 hours per week

Position begins Summer 2025 and continues through the academic year
Compensation:
Paid position (hourly rate based on experience and institutional guidelines)
