General Studies Alumni Association

The hallmark of the GS community is our rich and diverse network. The General Studies Alumni Association (GSAA) collectively strives to enhance the GS experience for alumni from the beginning of their Columbia journey as students throughout their lives as members of the worldwide Columbia University community.

GSAA represents one of the best ways for alumni to stay involved with the Columbia community while taking advantage of valuable networking and career-building opportunities.

Get Involved

The GSAA Board of volunteers is open to alumni from all class years. Board members meet several times a year to plan special events, support student programs, and participate in other exciting opportunities at Columbia. There are five committees that make up the board, and alumni interested in volunteering can choose how they would like to get involved.

GSAA Committees

Peer outreach is crucial in encouraging alumni to continue supporting the School, and the Annual Fund Committee engages alumni who have given financial gifts to GS in the past.

The Awards Committee works to identify and nominate GS alumni for prestigious awards and honors, both from GS and across the University.

The Outreach and Communications Committee supports social media outreach and promotions, and works to connect alumni in regions across the country back to the School.

The Programming Committee helps plan and execute special events that connect GS alumni and students, including cultural, social, and intellectual programs. Volunteers also contribute to large-scale events like Homecoming and Reunion.

The Recent Alumni Committee is made up of alumni who have graduated in the last five years, and who help identify ways that alumni can best support and engage GS students.
