Position Description
The Department of Pediatrics at Einstein/Montefiore is seeking a study coordinator for a school-based research study promoting physical activity among children with asthma in The Bronx. The goal of the project is to improve delivery of asthma care and clinical outcomes of children ages 2-12 years with asthma.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with Research Coordinator and PI to develop the study protocol and protocol amendments for the IRB as needed
  • Preparing reports related to the project.
  • Arranging meetings with study sites medical directors and nursing staff, develop meeting agendas, PowerPoint presentations and presents at meetings
  • Conducting literature searches and writing literature reviews
  • Assisting with preparation of conference abstracts, prepares oral presentations and poster presentations and participate in the development of manuscripts for publication
  • Traveling to clinical sites to oversee subject recruitment and provides enrollment updates at weekly meetings
  • Overseeing telephone follow up surveys with participants and ensuring that they are conducted within specific time frame; ensuring consistent practices and data integrity and completeness.
  • Conducting medical chart reviews as needed to obtain additional study related data and identifying potential study participants
  • Tracking participants throughout the study and helping manage the tracking database and ensuring integrity of data
  • Monitoring study-related data, checking data for accuracy and assisting with data analyses.
  • Maintaining regular communication with staff at research clinic sites and working closely with clinic staff at the study sites to ensure that our program is being implemented efficiently but also meeting the needs of the office staff without disrupting flow in the busy offices.
  • Working with clinic champions along with Research Coordinator and PI to ensure program implementation in practices.
  • Meeting regularly with the Research Coordinator, other team members and Principal Investigator to review the study’s progress
  • Reviewing work product for staff to ensure study protocol is followed as written and approved by the Montefiore-Einstein IRB.
  • Assisting with Spanish/English translation of materials
  • Providing oversight of student research assistants and volunteers
  • Other duties as assigned to this project or any other ongoing asthma research projects

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health or related discipline and 1-2 years of related experience is required. Masters Degree a plus.
  • Previous research experience or programmatic experience and experience working with a similar population a plus.
  • Strong computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel are required; ACCESS, RedCap and SPSS a plus.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

Time Commitment
Full-time, 35 hours per week.
