Position Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking highly motivated candidates for a research technician position in the Javadzadeh Lab starting May/June 2024 (start date is flexible). Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is a private, not-for-profit research and education institution at the forefront of molecular biology and genetics.
Successful candidates will be working at the intersection of experimental and computational neuroscience. Their exact roles and duties will be tailored based on the individual's background, interest, and goals for subsequent career stages.
Responsibilities Include:
- Recording, analyzing, and modeling neural population activity in the visual cortex of mice to understand the mechanisms underlying visual perception
- Involvement in in vivo recording and manipulation of neural activity, building custom experimental rigs, or analysis and modeling of neural population activity
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
- Scientific programming skills (Python or MATLAB)
- Quantitative background a plus
- Previous experience in neuroscience or analyzing/modeling neural data a plus
