Position Description
The Taub Center at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center is seeking a research technician.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting molecular biology experiments, cell culture, mouse husbandry and genotyping.
- Assisting with general maintenance of the lab, organization and ordering of shared resources
- Preparing slice cultures, reagents, and plan for the availability of resources.
- Carrying out various molecular biology assays, e.g. DNA/RNA prep, PCR, immunohistochemistry.
- Assisting with ordering and tracking of laboratory supplies, general lab organization and upkeep, re-stocking common reagents and solutions, and maintaining lab data.
- Proactively contributing towards the scientific environment, including detailed note taking and recording of results, is necessary.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques a plus.
- One year of related experience a plus.
- Experience with neuroscience techniques such as neuronal cultures, fluorescent imaging, or physiology a plus.
Time Commitment
Full-time, with weekend work as needed.
