Position Description
The Columbia University School of Nursing is seeking a research assistant to work with two researchers on a variety of research projects in adult and pediatric populations with chronic disease. The selected incumbent will provide administrative and research support to all studies. Most duties will occur virtually or in one of two settings: the inpatient and outpatient clinical settings at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Columbia University School of Nursing.

This is a grant-funded role which currently has an end date of one year from the date of hire. Continued employment is contingent upon further funding.

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting research subjects and enrolling study participants
  • Describing the study to eligible participants and obtaining study consents
  • Interviewing study participants in person and/or by phone
  • Proctoring intervention sessions
  • Providing support for data entry and cleaning
  • Assisting with literature searches and preparing manuscripts
  • Performing regulatory functions (e.g., IRB submissions; data use agreements; clinical trials registration; data safety monitoring)
  • Scheduling meetings and taking meeting minutes
  • Coordinating with subcontractor activities
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication (both written & verbal) skills
  • Applicants with a major or minor in health, psychology, nursing, or a related field will be given strong consideration
  • Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are highly desirable
  • Research experience (coursework and/or school thesis are considered acceptable research experiences)
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including children or adolescents, a plus
  • REDCap experience a plus

Time Commitment
Full-time (35 hours per week)

Compensation
$59–63K
