Position Description
The Hospital for Special Surgery's MRI Lab is seeking research assistants for multiple ongoing and imminent projects related to MRI research of peripheral neuropathy.

Projects include the development of technology to extend scope of MRI in orthopedics, magnetic resonance and ultrasound imaging as biomarkers for detection and monitoring of parsonage-turner syndrome (PTS) (NIH-sponsored R21 grant), RSNA Research & Education Foundation Fellow Grant to develop online access upper extremity peripheral nerve atlas, using Ferumoxytol as a contrast agent for vascular suppression, 3D MRI for intra-operative spine surgery guidance, and retrospective studies. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Recruiting volunteer subjects for MRI scans: consenting subjects, overseeing scanning
  • Performing peripheral nerve qualitative and quantitative imaging
  • Working directly with on-site GE scientist to keep subject lists, assist with post-processing of scans and analysis
  • Assisting with literature reviews, as needed, for manuscript preparation
  • Processing bloodwork in laboratory
  • Keeping data records, including maintain RedCap Database
  • Participating in MRI scanning and labeling of anatomy for atlas
  • Editing and submitting manuscripts

Time Commitment
Full-time, June 2022 - June 2023.
