Position Description
Dr. Lisa Mandl with the Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking a clinical research assistant to work on studies involving arthritis and total joint replacements.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Administering questionnaires to patients in person, by mail, and by phone
  • Acting as a resource for patients regarding study consent forms 
  • Sending out letters to patients inviting them to participate in studies 
  • Acting as a liaison between physicians, physician's office staff and study participants 
  • Coordinating patient visits with physician schedules 
  • Being a contact person for patients to call regarding questions about study protocols 
  • Calling patients between visits to ensure compliance and answer any questions 
  • Setting up electronic databases and creating electronic data collection forms
  • Performing data entry 
  • Organizing and maintaining all paperwork related to the study 
  • Obtaining tissue samples from the operating room
  • Submitting abstracts to academic meetings to disseminate study results
  • Helping to create poster and PowerPoint presentations of study results
  • Assisting in grant submission 

Position Requirements 

  • Computer literate: Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Must be available on site at the hospital during patient visits

Time Commitment
Full-time. 40 hours per week starting in May or June 2022, with 12-24 month commitment.

$42K per year
