Position Description
The Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking a research assistant to work in the Physiatry Department. This individual will have the opportunity to work on a range of studies with various physiatrists and Physiatry fellows.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing and executing CRP/IRB submissions for initial approvals
  • Continuing reviews, amendments, protocol deviations, and adverse events
  • Ensuring timeliness and accuracy of all submissions
  • Overseeing and conducting the screening and informed consent processes for research studies interactions with patients
  • Updating screening tracking worksheets on a routine basis
  • Administering surveys (phone/email/in-person) and coordinates research-related visits and follow-ups with all relevant multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensuring subject/investigator compliance with research procedures and escalates issues to supervisor as needed
  • Managing data collection specific to research studies
  • Performing audit and quality checks on a routine basis to make sure data entry is up-to-date and complete
  • Compiling final dataset for analysis and assists in the interpretation and summarization of results
  • Providing updates on study progress to supervisor and Principal Investigators
  • Participating in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and abstracts/presentations for conference meetings
  • Assisting with literature searches, as necessary
  • Scheduling monitor visits and set up for monitoring visits prior to monitor's arrival

Position Requirements

  • Must have a bachelor's degree in life sciences or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience in clinical research
  • Experience in clinical research and knowledge of GCPs, HIPAA, 21CFR, and ICH a plus
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite a plus
  • Prior experience with EPIC a plus
  • Ability to work for 2 years a plus
  • Knowledge of Orthopaedic and/or Rheumatologic terminology a plus
