Position Description
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a research assistant to support the Quality and Patient Safety program.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing support for quality measurement involving selected patient chart audits and/or data collection for ongoing Department-wide initiatives
- Creating and maintaining datasets for ongoing research and improvement initiatives
- Identifying and confirms appropriate procedures to validate data and ensure data quality and integrity
- Performing statistical analysis of data consistent with established methods for analyzing health care quality and patient safety data
- Communicating with clinical investigators to understand available quality and patient safety data in relation to orthopedic surgery and opportunities for improvement
- Providing support in designing specific quality improvement projects and data analysis plans
- Providing support in implementing and facilitating department-wide quality improvement projects
- Assisting in grant, abstract, and manuscript preparation
- Participating in team meetings pertaining to quality and patient safety
- Assisting with meeting schedules, meeting minutes and agendas as appropriate
- Interacting with the IRB on behalf of the quality and safety team as needed
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, psychobiology, neuroscience, computer science or a related field
- An MCAT score, biostatistics training, and research experience a plus
Time Commitment
Full-time, with a two-year commitment.
Compensation
$40K, plus $5K for annual travel support
