Position Description
A dermatology private practice on the Upper East Side is seeking a bright and personable Medical Assistant. This is an excellent gap year opportunity for candidates interested in gaining hands-on clinical experience in both procedural and general dermatology. The practice specializes in procedures such as biopsies, excisions, and Mohs surgery, and utilizes the Nextech EMR system.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with patient intake, histories, and charting
- Rooming patients and preparing exam rooms
- Supporting dermatologic procedures (biopsies, excisions, Mohs surgery)
- Sterilizing instruments and maintaining clinical equipment
- Communicating pathology results to patients
- General clinical and administrative support as needed
Position Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to learn and use EMR systems (Nextech preferred)
- Prior dermatology experience is a plus but not required
Time Commitment
Full-time, Monday–Friday (approximately 8–9 AM to 5–6 PM); 1–2 year commitment preferred
Compensation
$20/hour during training; increases to $22/hour thereafter
