Position Title
Research Technician (Full-Time)
Position Description
The Laboratory of Dr. Charles Sawyers at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is seeking a highly motivated graduating senior to join the team as a full-time Research Technician. This is a premier training opportunity for pre-med, pre-PhD, or MD-PhD–bound students interested in clinically oriented cancer research.
The Sawyers Lab focuses on mechanisms of cancer drug resistance and the development of novel therapies. Dr. Sawyers is an HHMI Investigator and a leader in oncology drug discovery, including the development of enzalutamide for advanced prostate cancer. The technician will work closely with Dr. Eric Bent, an oncologist and physician-scientist known for strong mentorship of future physicians and scientists.

Responsibilities include:
- Working closely with physician-scientists on active research projects
- Investigating therapy resistance pathways using CRISPR and tumor organoid models
- Performing molecular biology techniques (cloning, PCR, qPCR, transfections, purifications)
- Conducting mouse and tissue culture experiments
- Assisting with data analysis, including immunofluorescence, scRNA-seq, and spatial transcriptomics
- Supporting general lab organization and operations
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (before June 2026) in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or related field
- 1–2+ years of wet lab research experience
- Strong interest in cancer biology and translational research
Time Commitment
- Full-time
- Two-year commitment required
