Position Description
The Department of Surgery at Morristown Medical Center is seeking a Research Associate for a full-time gap year opportunity ideal for recent graduates planning to pursue medical school.
The research team is highly productive, publishing approximately 8–10 peer-reviewed, PubMed-indexed papers annually, and the Research Associate will play a key role in supporting ongoing clinical and translational research projects. This position offers strong opportunities for authorship, skill development, and academic growth.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyzing large clinical datasets using statistical software
- Assisting with manuscript writing and preparation for publication
- Creating presentations and supporting research dissemination
- Collaborating with faculty and research staff on ongoing projects
- Supporting general research activities within the department
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong interest in pursuing medical school
- Proficiency in Excel, Stata, and R
- Strong writing and presentation skills (manuscripts and PowerPoint)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and team members
Preferred:
- Experience in molecular biology (e.g., RNA extraction, PCR, ELISA)
