Position Description
A busy private urology practice in Manhattan is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe / Medical Assistant to join the team. This paid gap-year opportunity is ideal for students planning to apply to medical school or PA school who are seeking immersive, hands-on clinical experience in a fast-paced private practice setting.
This role offers extensive patient interaction, close physician mentorship, and exposure to both clinical care and private practice operations. Previous scribes from this practice have gone on to attend prestigious medical schools.
Responsibilities include:
- Interviewing patients and documenting medical histories in the electronic medical record (EMR)
- Entering physical exam findings, assessments, and care plans
- Completing visit summaries and sending correspondence to referring providers
- Assisting with uroflowmetry testing, lab cultures, and patient education
- Preparing for and assisting with in-office procedures, including minimally invasive prostate procedures
- Coordinating laboratory and radiology appointments
- Serving as a liaison between physicians, patients, and outside healthcare professionals
Regular teaching sessions are conducted to strengthen medical knowledge and clinical skills. There may also be opportunities to pursue part-time medical research, with potential for publication.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with completed premedical coursework
- Excellent communication, typing, and documentation skills
- Ability to learn and work efficiently within an EMR system
- Reliable, professional, and patient-centered approach to care
Time Commitment
- Full-time
- Commitment required through June 2026
- Strong preference for availability through June 2027

$22 per hour
