Position Description
Marks Colorectal Surgical Associates is seeking a highly motivated Clinical Research Assistant for a one-year, paid, fellowship-style position beginning Summer 2026. This immersive role offers in-depth exposure to academic surgery, clinical research, and patient care and is especially well-suited for students planning to apply to medical school.
Marks Colorectal Surgical Associates specializes in minimally invasive and sphincter-preserving colorectal surgery and is led by nationally recognized physician leaders in surgical and oncologic research. The position combines rigorous research training with meaningful clinical exposure in a high-volume surgical practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining surgical research databases
- Collecting and analyzing data on advanced laparoscopic and robotic procedures
- Preparing abstracts and manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Contributing to presentations for national and international conferences
- Collaborating on bi-monthly case presentations for multidisciplinary Rectal Cancer Management Conferences
Approximately 40% of time is spent in operative data collection, with the remaining time dedicated to research analysis, writing, and academic presentations.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in academic medicine and surgery
- Prior experience in clinical research or data analysis preferred, but not required
