Position Description
Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York, in collaboration with the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant (CRA) to support research, community engagement, and health advocacy initiatives aimed at improving the health and well-being of children and families across Long Island and nationally.
This position is housed within General Pediatrics / Department of Pediatrics and is supervised by Henry Bernstein, MD. The CRA will serve as an integral member of the research team and participate in all aspects of ongoing projects. This role is well-suited for gap-year students or recent graduates interested in medicine, public health, pediatrics, or health policy.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing and executing all phases of clinical research studies
- Recruiting, enrolling, and following patients for study visits
- Interacting with patients and families to collect and manage data
- Developing and refining study workflows (surveys, scripts, data collection tools)
- Participating in data analysis, presentations, and manuscript preparation
- Supporting community-based breastfeeding/chestfeeding promotion initiatives
- Collaborating with healthcare practices and community partners
- Conducting site evaluations and monitoring outcome measures
- Coordinating lactation support groups and community outreach efforts
- Assisting with grant writing, presentations, and health policy–related materials
Position Requirements
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and writing skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Interest in pediatrics, women’s health, public health, or health policy
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
- Minimum one-year commitment
- Intent to apply to graduate or medical school
Preferred:
- Previous research experience
- Spanish proficiency
- Access to a car and valid driver’s license
Time Commitment
Full-time position; minimum one-year commitment required
Compensation
$22 per hour (per diem); no fringe benefits
