Position Description
Dr. Teena Shetty, Founder & Director of Teena Shetty MD Concussion Program PC, Founder and Inaugural Director of the Hospital for Special Surgery Concussion Program, Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College, and a member of the Associate Medical Staff at the Hospital for Special Surgery, is looking for a full-time Clinical Program Coordinator to work in her Concussion Program.
You would be involved in a number of concussion-related research projects and coordinating patient care in the concussion clinic. You would be heavily involved in all aspects of the research lifecycle. This is a wonderful opportunity to gain research experience, work directly with patients, and become exposed to daily life at a highly regarded clinic. This role will include administrative leadership of the concussion program coordination and is a highly patient-facing position. You will be instrumental in coordinating patient care. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with a multidisciplinary concussion team and gain experience in an important area of scientific advancement. You may also be involved in the publication of journal articles.
We are looking for a highly competent, organized, meticulous, hard-working, and personable candidate to fill this position. We also prefer that applicants have strong writing skills, can maintain a high level of professionalism, and are highly skilled with patients and their families. This role offers close mentorship from the clinic’s lead physician, making it an excellent opportunity for recent graduates preparing to apply for medical school.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating referral appointments for patients with a multidisciplinary concussion team.
- Providing executive assistant–level and highly efficient administrative support to clinic leadership, managing daily operations such as email and correspondence, calendar coordination, organizing phone calls, and scheduling meetings.
- Acting as a liaison between patients, patient families, and healthcare professionals and facilitating treatment plans for patients.
- Patient scheduling and follow-up.
- Collaborating with biostatisticians and research staff to support study design, data collection, and protocol development.
- Assisting in the preparation of research presentations.
- Chart review and project development.
- Writing and updating IRB protocols.
- Consenting patients interested in participating in research studies.
Position Requirements
- The qualified applicant will have a Bachelor's Degree in arts or science (BA or BS) from an accredited institution, but most importantly, a strong interest in medicine and gaining skills in direct patient contact and clinical research.
- We also prefer that applicants have a familiarity with clinical data and statistical analysis.
Time Commitment
A two-year commitment is strongly prioritized. We welcome applicants who can start immediately in the role.
