Position Description
The Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) is seeking a clinical research coordinator. The coordinator will be responsible for the clinical research projects of the director of the Lupus and APS Center of Excellence (Dr. Jane Salmon), who studies the disease of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE, or lupus).

Responsibilities include:

  • Screening of patients and recruitment into research studies
  • Collecting and organizing patient data
  • Coordinating patient visit according to the established protocols
  • Managing regulatory data and submission of reports to the Institutional Review Board (IRB)
  • Managing patient samples in a general database
  • Working closely with nurses and physicians
    to identify patients suitable for research studies and to manage ongoing projects
  • Processing of blood samples, duties that include centrifuging, pipetting, and aliquoting.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Background in a science or health-related field a plus
  • Previous experience with data management, lab work, logistical management and/or patient interaction a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, data entry

Time Commitment
Full-time, starting in May or June 2021 with a two-year commitment
