Position Description

The Iliev Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine is seeking a highly motivated, independent yet team-oriented Clinical Research Assistant/Research Technician for a full-time, in-person gap year role. The lab focuses on immunology, microbiology, and clinical research involving patient-based studies and disease modeling.

This position is ideal for pre-medical or biomedical science graduates looking to gain strong clinical and laboratory research experience.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Screening and consenting patients for clinical trials
  2. Recruiting patients and handling clinical specimens
  3. Collecting and processing clinical samples
  4. Writing clinical trial protocols
  5. Assisting with in vitro and in vivo experiments
  6. Performing microbiology and molecular biology techniques
  7. Cell culturing and handling bacterial and fungal cultures
  8. Collaborating with postdocs, graduate students, and research staff
  9. Assisting with laboratory ordering and supplies

Position Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree required
  2. Background in molecular biology, immunology, or microbiology preferred
  3. Experience with experimental methods and/or patient interaction is a plus
  4. Computational skills welcomed
  5. Strong teamwork and organizational skills

Time Commitment

Full-time, in-person

Compensation

$38,400.00 – $58,000.00 per year
