The Taskforce was convened in Fall 2020 to work towards an anti-racist, multicultural GS that builds on our long-term commitment to education access and equity for students of all backgrounds.
Working Groups
Increasing Student Diversity at GS
Increase recruitment from New York City’s five boroughs through a scholars program, in collaboration with community organizations and other schools at the University
Undertake a holistic review of recruitment materials and admissions events
Enhancing the GS Environment, Student Experience, and Community Engagement
Review and enhance the existing bias response system in the Dean of Students Office
Support and collaborate with student-led initiatives
Develop and implement innovative co-curricular activities focused on racial justice, racism, and cultural diversity
Increase the School’s use of local businesses wherever possible
Developing Bridge & Student Support Programs
Develop a program that provides summer STEM preparation, focusing on students from underrepresented groups
Work towards full funding (cost of attendance) for the Program for Academic Leadership and Service (PALS); PALS is a full-tuition financial aid program for underrepresented students and/of students who are first in their families to attend college
Work with student coalitions to fundraise for full funding scholarships for students who are formerly incarcerated
