Yellow Ribbon Program Application

Only current GS students and applicants are eligible to complete the GS Yellow Ribbon Program (YRP) application.

Note: Continuing students who received YRP funding previously do not need to submit the online application; however, in order to receive YRP funding for subsequent semesters, they must submit the Veterans Request for Certification.

As part of your application, you must provide a brief autobiographical paragraph of 100 to 250 words in length.
 
If you are selected for a Named Yellow Ribbon, this autobiographical statement will be published in the Annual Scholarship Celebration printed booklet.
 
*Note: The autobiographical statement will not be reviewed as part of the scholarship review process. Additional information pertinent to your scholarship application should be noted below in the Brief Statement section.
 
Please include as much of the following information as possible in your autobiographical statement.
  • What brought you to the School of General Studies?
  • Major or intended major
  • Extracurricular activities and interests
  • Expected graduation date
  • Work experience
  • Awards or previous degrees, if applicable
  • Future study plans and career goals
Please include any information that you think would be helpful for the Scholarship Committee in considering your scholarship award. Please include any of this information, if applicable:
  • Academic achievements and honors from previous institutions (for example, membership in Phi Theta Kappa [PTK]);
  • Any incongruity between your recent academic performance and your expectations or previous accomplishments;
  • A significant change in income from last year;
  • Total loan debt from previous institutions.
