Position Description
The St. Barnabas Hospital Health System is seeking volunteers and interns interested in learning about the day-to-day business of a fast-paced hospital. This position will provide the opportunity to obtain knowledge of healthcare operations as well as learn the medical terminology of each unit, allowing volunteers to apply this experience to their medical career while acquiring skillful healthcare experiences between patients and the multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities Include:
- Enhancing the patient's experience
- Facilitating efforts to create person-centered care for patients such as giving emotional support, advocacy, compassionate communication, etc.
- Bridging Doctor, Nurse, Patient and Care Partner Communication with your observations of patients’ comfort and surroundings
- Reporting to various patient units and actively listen to any concern or issues patients may have
Position Requirements
- Candidates must be 16 years or older
Time Commitment
Part-time, with a minimum commitment of three hours per week for two months.
