Position Description
Mount Sinai Health is seeking students to volunteer for their Delirium Program geared towards assisting patients, families, and clinicians with the management of delirium. The Hospital Delirium Program has been operating at the main campus for the past 3 years and is a wonderful opportunity for students to gain one to one patient experience.Delirium is a syndrome of global brain dysfunction associated with acute medical and surgical conditions, typically occurring in hospitalized geriatric patients.
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the provision of non-medical interventions in a team effort to treat active cases of delirium and preventing delirium in high risk cases
Position requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be responsible and dedicated
- Must be timely and prompt
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be sensitive to diverse patient populations
- Must be professional
- Bilingual a plus
Time Commitment
Part-time, 100 hours over 6 months (4 consecutive hours per week), Monday through Friday (12:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.)
