Position Description
Albert Einstein College of Medicine is seeking a volunteer to help support a hospital-wide Chagas Disease screening project at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identifying at-risk patients in primary care and/or OBGYN clinics at Elmhurst hospital in Queens
  • Screening patients in a primary care clinic and/or OBGYN to obtain pertinent patient data
  • Ensuring patient files are appropriately flagged for further evaluation
  • Providing additional follow-through to ensure that patients who screened positive receive a confirmatory diagnosis, and are appropriately tracked
  • Supporting additional educational efforts as needed for the grant, which may include coordinating virtual symposiums and other teaching sessions

Position Requirements

  • Must be a fluent Spanish speaker
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college degree program
  • Must be able to travel between clinic locations in Queens
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. May use other web-based programs as assigned
  • Ability to check applicable policies and procedures

Time Commitment
Part-time, 15-20 hours per week.
